Some random person: Why did you marry a Canadian?
Me: Because I have a natural aversion to Arab men.

You were missed ! Some people have a knack of asking stupid questions! However, I would replace "natural" by either "well deserved", or "fully earned" aversion! "Natural" deflects from the Arab men's responsibility for the choices they make. I don't know what happened, but never have I felt so alienated as during my last trip back home. Now the aversion has been passed on to my daughter! I couldn't find an acceptable excuse or explanation for why men stared at her chest; why she was groped; subjected to dirty sexual innuendo by smart Alec complete strangers who further insulted her by describing what they think are preferred sex practices of women in her country(even though she was wearing baggy jeans & T shirts)! The image Arab men now portray of themselves, specially with all the veils, burkas,& niqabs; is that of men who are weak, helpless, ignorant of the concept of self-respect or dignity, unable to control their instincts, and who can only think from their "waist downwards". By degrading their women, they first degraded themselves. Syn
